After our collective sugar high from snarfing danishes bedecked with pear, peach and kiwi, it's time for a little straight talk from the onion family.
I see this as the soulmate of the garlic and shallots in a French bowl sketch of earlier this month (see Still Life Sketches in gallery at left.) Here the plate is English. Kind of a latter day Entente Cordiale.

I agree with Cin. The colors are just knocking me out. Great job kitten.

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful!!! Love those roots, may need to look for a hair tie for them! Such delicate rendering of the clarity and pattern of the plate. Outstanding!

Hi all and many thanks! For some reason, I'm crazy about rooted things. I did a painting series a few years ago, with lots of embedded, rooted imagery. Should turn to that again in 2007. Z, I used the Caran d'Ache watersoluble crayons here--I've been having quite a fling, on and off, with them this summer! Linda, I've known for a long time we were separated at birth;D.

did you use colored pencils or those creta....um, ah...you know, those color drawing thingies you often use and love which i suppose to be sorta like fancy crayons or my oil pastels?
