One of my very nice readers, Deni May, writing me about my theme for this year, a theme whose pursuit is taking me to Hawaii AND Paris, asked, 'is it orchids?' A good guess, but not the right answer! I do have orchids in my house, though, and here are a couple of them:
One person has guessed the answer to 2008's Mystery Theme and a
couple of people have come close, so I'm going to tell you what it is
next week. I want to show you the things I'm working on, things
relating to the theme, that I haven't been able to share thus far, too!
In these sketches, playing with Schmincke gouache, watercolor, dip
and bamboo pens and india ink---oh, and Mars Lumograph 8b pencil in the
face.

Wow, Laura, I'm left speechless after looking at your blog of prolific beauty...over and over you just seemingly so effortlessly gift us with your creative view on life. And your writing is exquisite....how about an illustrated journal/memoir in your future???

Even your work with gouache glows and has inner light. I wrote to Schminke and requested their color charts for their gouache and watercolor and they sent me the nicest letter and package of color charts and brochures, all the way from Europe.
