It has been a harrowing week, with my mother's condition in free fall for awhile. Yesterday things turned around and she's apparently out of danger. So, hugely relieved, I grabbed an hour this morning to think about blues, the happy kind, and here is the result:
As my friend Amanda( www.craftmonkeys.typepad.com) said ...' what a great companion a pencil and journal can be when you are spending so many hours at the hospital... .' She got that right. Thanks to all of you who commented below with such caring and warmth.
Thanks to everyone who commented in recent days. I've been out of town at my parents' home and haven't been able to respond or post. I'll be in and out of town over the next weeks, but will try like anything to carry on drawing and posting, for my own sanity's sake.

Hi Laura...I don't comment often, but after reading about what happened to your mom, I wanted to let you know you and your family are in my thoughts. When my mother was in the hospital, it was such a stressful and difficult time...I can imagine how draining this must be for you. You're a good daughter. Best wishes to both of you, and prayers for your mom's smooth recovery.

Dear L,
I am happy to hear that your mother is out of danger. My best wishes to her!
As always, your artwork fascinates me. Your use of colour is so daring and free, I find it refreshing.

I had no idea about your mothers fall. I am glad to hear that she is recovering. The "blues" look lovely. I know I am going to enjoy this color scheme. Will you ever do pinks? Huge hugs from your secret santa-
Annie

You do bottles and glassware exceptionally well. I see the possibility of you doing a nice still life around such a theme. All our best wishes to you and your Mum.

so sorry to hear of the difficult week for all, and am glad there is some small relief for you in the drawing and that your Mom is finally doing better.
These are so lovely, the lines and beautiful washes of color, wonderful how you "see" and make the ordinary beautiful.
