...the title of one of the songs the Pat Metheny Trio played in concert last night. And I have the wonderful artist Cin of Learning Daily to thank for her elegant drawings of musicians---they inspired me to take my sketchbook to the performance. I could barely see what I was doing in the darkened auditorium, so it was fun to come home and finally look at what I did.
PS: Pat Metheny's hair really IS two feet wide and curly as can be.
Rough and unpolished, and therefore VERY unCinlike, here are my sketches:

I'm amazed at how accurate these drawings are - the loose lines don't fool me - you've captured the shapes and proportions of the instruments and players so well

I love the figures as seen from a darkened hall. You captured the atmosphere so well!

Laura, your figure work is always amazing -- but especially this time, since you were in a darkened auditorium. These are really wonderful!

I wish I could draw like this. I like the way you gave the action to your draws.

Thank you Laurel for your thoughtful comment on my blog - I am sure this Vetrans Day is a very special time for you, and yes, without the American involvement in WW2 we would now all be lost.
You went to see Pat Metheney???? Amazing - I have his CDs, and think he is fantastic. I envy you so much!
Have a good week, Tom
