At Champs de Mars near the Eiffel Tower yesterday, children, parents, grandparents all came together to frolic in the October afternoon air. 'Papa!' 'Maman!' ' Je veux....!' "Je ne veux pas....!' 'Calme-toi!' 'Doucement!' 'Inez, viens ici!' 'Maman, regarde!' 'Ecoute-moi!' ' 'Attention!'
Please click on each image for complete sketch. I'm having trouble sizing things this morning and have run out of time.
From the market on rue Cler, I bought figs, chanterelles, and fresh walnuts:
When I can't stay in one place long, or when people are coming and going quickly, I scatter sketches to make a montage such as this one, from Saint-Sulpice, Luxembourg Gardens and the Champs du Mars:
I am so glad to be back and starting to catch up on sleep -- and what a wonderful way to wake up! All these sketches so fine, but the figs/walnuts/chanterelle is especially amazing.

Thank you so much, les amis! Chris, the sun doesn't rise until after 8am, so no 6:30am sketching for me! The only other artist I've seen at work this trip was a woman painting en plein air in a park. No other sketchers so far. Linda, call me!! Maggie, I don't know if I will draw the Eiffel Tower or not---there are already so many Eiffel Towers out there ;D. Marly and all, the figs really are that blue! Cecelia, je t'aime et tu me manques beaucoup. Elaine, always so glad to have a word or two from you! Linda from Pa, the food has been good, though I eat by myself a lot. I'll post about food later. All the rest of my wonderful commenters, je vous aime!
