Here in San Antonio, the old and new worlds collide, jostle, make nice, make food, make music and generally have a jolly time. Today, for example, we saw a Saint Patrick's day parade on the San Antonio River, with a float containing lovely, statuesque Hispanic women all dressed in green frocks, festooned with shamrocks, doing the macarena! Viva San A and Saint P!
Speaking of jollity, my husband and I had a wonderful time with fellow blogger Lori Witzel yesterday! We met for a drink on the terrace of our hotel and then had dinner at a place Lori picked for us--and it was completely divine. Thank you, Lori, for a terrific evening!
This morning was overcast and a bit drizzly, so I found shelter in the courtyard garden of the Spanish Governor's palace, built in 1749. In the struggle between Spain and France for domination of the New World, the palace represents a period of Spain's ascendancy. Yes, that's a fountain with a tiny trickle of water. I'm, as you may know, a fool for fountains. The black and white vignette is a corner of the same courtyard.
My husband was born in San Antonio and spent his whole childhood and most of his teen years here. Tonight we're going to his favorite Mexican restaurant from those days. Viva Mexico! Hasta luego!
Lovely to see yet more bloggers getting together. I think we should have a virtual club for all those who've achieved a 'face to face' - with gold stars awarded to those who did drawings of each other as well!
I must say that drink looks very refreshing..........

It sounds like you and David are having a fantastic time! Your art is beautiful, as always. And parades, meeting Lori and fabulous Mexican food? I'm envious! And so happy you're enjoying yourselves. xo

You are quite the aesthete! Looks like you culled all the best things there and gave them even more life in your artwork. You must've been in your element!

I recognize the glasses and eye and distinctive eyebrow, but it's good to see the Whole Witzel!
Somehow I imagine that two such energetic souls would shoot off many sparks in a meeting. Judging by the pictures, you are having a lovely time.
