It interests me to see how apparently different the current products of these two pursuits of mine are.
My friend Concetta Flore asked what size the volcano paintings are. They are 11" x 14"... a good, manageable size to begin to explore a new subject. I see them hanging as a group. I'm applying for a solo show for 2013. These volcano pieces are my first foray in creating a body of work for that show.

And here are a couple of quick sketches made in my garden this morning.
I'll be writing my artist's statement in the next few days, the first I've had to write in years. I'll have to figure out why I do what I do and why I am who I am. I won't know the answers until I start to write!
This is great! I really love your use of color and lighting. Very nice job.

The volcano series is excellent, Laura--looks wonderful. And the flowers are all limpid and lovely.
