Well, I imagined I'd be largely impervious to Italy's charms, I who am an ardent Francophile and Scandinavia lover, too. Ha! There's a reason why people love Italy, you know. Actually, there are hundreds of reasons---you trip over one everywhere you turn.
It was hot as ANYTHING though, so I sketched not quite as much as I normally do. And another reason is because... I just let myself enjoy BEING there. That's a novel thought in this age of obsessive, manic sketching! After seven years of being one of those obsessives, I needed to lean back and remember why I loved sketching, for myself, all those years ago. I'm getting there.

These sketches are amazing! Do you paint them or just draw? I want to find painters in washington that can do amazing artwork like this.

I love how these drawings/paintings are lively and still detailed. Great work!

Gorgeous, Laura - I can feel the shimmering heat in your sketches.

These are some of your best sketches, in my opinion. It is easy to see that you enjoyed yourself. I love seeing the world through your eyes. Marvelous!

I'm sure you did enjoy Italy. I am an Italy girl rather than a France girl, and a Rome girl rather than a Paris girl, so I couldn't have thought otherwise. Particularly liked the wildflowers as they zoom right in to what is happening with the seasons.
