An update on the recent illustration front. I did 8 sketches for an article on Saxapahaw, NC for Walter Magazine for their May issue. Saxapahaw is a happening little town, about an hour's drive from Raleigh. Here you will find great natural beauty, music, art and craft, delish food, and lovely people.
Here are some images from that article. Click on link above for full text. All 8 illustrations appear in the print version, but not online.
My oyster illustration appeared in the Florida Weekly/Charlotte edition newspaper on April 24, 2014, on behalf of The Nature Conservancy, as part of their Coastal Awareness campaign.
And today, I start a new assignment for the August issue of Walter, having this week finished one for the upcoming issue of Charleston Style & Design, a new client. I'll share these after they are published.
Now to paint!
Jennifer, I was so thrilled for you all along your process of accomplishing that great goal! Thanks for your nice words about the illustrations. The salad piece was first drawn with a blue Koh-i-noor Progressive pencil and then I added watercolor washes. If you need a walking buddy on the next trip, let me know. I can't find one around here!

Thank you so much, dear Kate. I enjoyed both the salad and the drawing of it.

Hi Laura, Thanks for all your lovely comments and encouragement through my Camino journey. It was truly an amzing experience!!! Now, after a whole day at home, I want to go back to walking and sketching :)
I love the oyster—beautiful colors. I also really like the glass jar—wonderful marks. What pen did you use for that. I really must branch out from my Staedler 0.3 pen though it served me well on the Camino and I had no room or the strength to carry much more than that.

Absolutely gorgeous! And that salad is making my mouth water...so fresh. I know illustration is a lot of work, and stressful, but you make it look absolutely perfectly fresh.
