I spent a fair amount of time today composing an end-of-the year post, complete with lots of illustrations from my work, but I just abandoned it. It read a lot like one of those Christmas letters, carefully written to showcase accomplishments and boring the heck out of readers. It bored the heck out of me writing it. What I've done as an artist is easily accessed by scrolling through my posts this year. After all, there aren't copious lots of them ;D.
But it has been a very full year for me, with travel, a bit of teaching, painting, drawing, illustrating, writing, playing with mud and sticks, among other things.
I've done what I try to do every year, to know what my story is, to tell it and live it as best I can, and to find new, better ways to be the artist I am. Sometimes I find those better ways, sometimes not. It's a lifelong effort and 2017 will find me, God willing, at it again. I know those better days will come.
As it turns out, though, I can’t tell even this short story without pictures, so here are some favorite images of mine from this year.
Mirror sky and water, Lake Clark, Alaska.
Morning on fire, St. David's Head, Wales.
Road through the Bavarian Alps.
Me on the Pembrokeshire Coast Path. Happy as a clam.
May we all find energy, truth, the strength to endure, and peace in this coming year and, for heaven’s sake, may 2017 treat the world better than its departing predecessor.
I have some thoughts about what's up for my work in 2017 and will share those in the coming days. See you soon!
Thanks, Katherine. I'll go and check out your end-of-year post. Happy new year to you!

I've gone right off "the achievement fest" blog posts too!
It's good to think back and review but the benefits are essentially personal.
Highlights I like! Share away!
